Treatment of hypertension with massage can be carried out regardless of its stage. But there are some contraindications that should be ignored.
Contraindications to massage :
1. Hypertensive crisis that occurred suddenly.
2. Frequent cerebral crises.
3. Presence of a severe form of diabetes.
4. General indications in which massage is not recommended.
Massage for hypertension helps reduce headaches and dizziness, lower blood pressure, and improve the psycho-emotional state.
Massage techniques should be performed in the following order :
1. Massage of the upper part of the back.
2. Neck massage.
3. Scalp massage.
4. Massage of the front surface of the chest.
5. Massage of the neck, nape and pain points.
Massage of the upper part of the needle
To carry out the massage, the patient should be placed on his stomach, and a roller should be placed under his ankle joints. In this position of the massaged person, you need to perform the following techniques:
1. Stroking:
a) rectilinear;
b) alternating.
2. Wringing:
a) the base of the palm;
b) beak-like.
On the long muscle of the back:
1. Kneading:
a) arched pad of the thumb;
b) columnar with pads of four fingers;
c) "pincer-like";
d) columnar with the pads of the thumbs.
2. Stroking.
On the latissimus dorsi:
1. Kneading:
a) ordinary;
b) double ring;
c) combined.
2. Stroking.
Between the spine and the scapula, as well as on the suprascapular area :
1. Rubbing:
a) rectilinear hill and thumb pad;
b) columnar rib of the thumb;
c) steep tubercle of the thumb;
The massage should be performed on both sides of the back. They finish by rubbing it along the spine from the lower corners of the shoulder blades to the seventh cervical vertebra:
a) rectilinear with the pads of the index and middle fingers (the spinal column should be between the fingers);
b) impact on areas between spinous processes.
Neck massage
Massage of the neck should be performed simultaneously with massage of the trapezius muscle on the left and right sides:
1. Stroking.
2. Squeezing.
3. Kneading:
a) ordinary;
b) double ring;
c) columnar with pads of four fingers;
d) column-shaped phalanges of bent fingers.
4. Stroking.
Scalp massage
The massage should be performed in the following position: the massager lies on the stomach, his head is placed on folded hands.
1. Stroking with pads of open fingers in the direction from the top down to the occipital, frontal and temporal regions;
2. Rubbing (in the direction from the top down to the occipital, frontal and temporal regions):
a) zigzag with the pads of the fingers;
b) columnar with finger pads;
c) columnar beak-shaped.
Then you should change the position of the massaged person: put him on his back, and put a roller under his head. In this position of the patient, it is necessary to perform massage techniques on the forehead.
1. Rectilinear stroking with the pads of the fingers (in the direction from the middle of the forehead, along the hairline to the temples).
2. Rubbing:
a) zigzag with the pads of the fingers;
b) columnar with finger pads.
c) pressing with the pads of the fingers.
3. Pinching.
4. Stroking.
After that, it is necessary to massage the temporal areas in turn, performing circular movements with the pads of four fingers.
Massage of the front surface of the chest
1. Stroking is spiral.
2. Squeezing with the thumb.
3. Kneading the large pectoral muscles:
a) ordinary;
b) column-shaped phalanges of bent fingers;
c) columnar beak-shaped.
4. Shaking.
5. Stroking.
Massage of the neck, back of the head and pain points
Massage should be placed on the stomach.
1. Stroking.
2. Squeezing.
3. Kneading (2 or 3 types).
Then you should influence (by palpation) painful points located in the area of the nipples (bony projections behind the earlobe), between the eyebrows, on the temples, in the center of the parietal region. Massage (12-14 sessions of 15-20 minutes each) should be performed simultaneously with physical therapy and medical treatment. Massage can be done daily or in one day.
