Binoculars Vanguard VEO ED 10x50 WP (VEO ED 1050)

With the release of the VEO ED series of binoculars, Vanguard has raised the bar for the ratio of price, quality and performance of optics to an entirely new level. Vanguard VEO ED 10x50 WP is a well-balanced, lightweight and durable waterproof binocular equipped with premium optics, which catches the eye at first glance with its ergonomic and well-thought-out design.

The company was the first to present on the market binoculars in a lightweight and ultra-strong carbon composite body, dressed in a premium protective rubber coating Mitsubishi Rubber Armor (exactly the same as used for decorating the interior details of Mitsubishi sports cars). The lenses of the objectives are made of low-dispersion ED glass and have a full multi-layer broadband coating that illuminates. BAK4 optical glass prisms are coated with a phase-correcting coating. All these improvements are designed to reduce chromatic aberration and ensure the transmission of bright and accurate colors with high resolution.

In addition to waterproofness and reliable protection against shocks, Vanguard VEO ED 10x50 WP is protected against the formation of internal condensation, as well as against the appearance of scratches on the optics and the accumulation of water, oils and dirt on the surface of the lenses. These are all-weather multi-functional binoculars that will definitely not let you down in the most extreme conditions. As is customary at the Vanguard company, special attention was paid to the quality of binocular accessories: the basic equipment includes lens covers that are attached to the body with straps, a bag and neoprene for storage and transportation, as well as a comfortable wide neoprene strap.

ED Glass . Glass with ultra-low dispersion (Extra low dispersion glass) is used in the lenses of premium-class optical devices, and is intended for the correction of chromatic aberration (color distortion), which occurs as a result of light scattering when the light flux passes through the lens system. The index of refraction of light by low-dispersion glasses is insignificant, all waves of the light spectrum passing through ED-glass are refracted at the same angle. Thanks to this property, low-dispersion glasses practically do not scatter light, maintaining high image resolution and correct color rendering.

Advanced MultiGuard® Coatings . Seven layers of the most technologically advanced broadband illuminant coating are applied to each optical surface. The coating ensures a uniformly high level of light transmission of the optical system and unsurpassed natural color reproduction in almost the entire visible range (from 320 Nm to 680 Nm). In addition, a super-strong hydrophobic membrane is applied to the outer surface of the lenses and glasses, which protects against scratches, prevents the accumulation of water on the lenses and oil contamination.

BAK4 Prism . Significant light losses in a rotating prism system occur regardless of its design. The use of optical glass BAK4 (barite crown) with a higher refractive index allows you to minimize light losses, and to a large extent avoid vignetting (darkening of the image due to a cut of the light beam on the periphery of the eyepiece lenses).

P2 Phase Correction. The application of a multi-layer phase-correcting prism coating is today the standard for high-quality binoculars with a rotating Roof prism design. When passing through such a prism system, light is reflected from the opposite sides of the prism, polarized, and there is a shift of half the phase of the light wave, which entails a loss of contrast. The thinnest phase-correcting coating, applied to one of the surfaces of the prism, combines the phases, providing high resolution and contrast of the image.

Waterproof & fogproof. These binoculars have an IPX7 moisture protection class and are also protected against the formation of internal condensation. The case is sealed with a rubber sealing O-ring, which allows the binoculars to stay under water for up to 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter without letting moisture inside. From the internal volume of the case, the air and water vapor contained in it are displaced by nitrogen N2, which does not form condensate on the internal surfaces of the optics at a sharp temperature drop.

Outstanding near focus. Most users use binoculars only to observe distant objects. But not everyone knows that the best models of binoculars provide significant opportunities for macro observations. The minimum focusing distance (focusing limit) of this model is only 3.0 meters, which allows you to view flowers and insects in their real habitat. Binoculars with a minimum focusing limit of up to 3.0 meters belong to high-class optical devices.

Carbon Fiber Composite Body. The Vanguard company became the first manufacturer to use composite carbon fiber in serial production of optical devices. The material PA66 + 40CF consists of 40% of the thinnest fibers (up to 7 μm) of reinforcing carbon fiber and 60% of the binder polyamide PA66, which is one of the strongest and most stable polymers used in composite materials. According to laboratory studies, composite carbon fiber PA66 + 40CF at the same density is 271% stronger than polycarbonate (a material traditionally used for the production of optical instrument housings), and is also 2 times lighter and 20% stronger than aluminum.

2 Stage Eyecups. Correctly designed eyeglass frames not only increase comfort during long-term observations, but, first of all, allow users with different anatomical structures of the eyes, as well as users with glasses, to use binoculars with equal ease. These binoculars use rather soft retractable frames of Twist-Up glasses, which have 2 intermediate levels of fixation.

Tripod mountable. Despite the fact that in most cases observations are carried out with binoculars in hand, there are situations when installation on a tripod is simply necessary. High magnifications, observation for a long time, or shooting on a smartphone camera with binoculars require the stability of the optical device. This model has a thread for attaching a tripod adapter, located under the cap in the hinge.
