Varicose veins (simplified varicose veins) is a common pathological process, damage to veins (vessels that carry blood to the heart), which is characterized by an increase in the diameter of the lumen, thinning of "knots" - aneurysm-like local expansions.
In a narrow sense, the term "varicose veins" can mean an independent disease (varicose veins of the lower extremities) that occurs in combination with other vein diseases or is their consequence.
A progressive course, changes in subcutaneous veins, skin, muscles and bones are often observed. Varicose veins of the lower extremities are visually characterized by the presence of dilated veins on the foot, leg, and thigh. This is a disease in which the wall of the subcutaneous veins loses elasticity. As a result, the vessels are stretched, nodular expansions appear in some areas, which gave the name to this disease (Varix means "knot" in Latin).

What is a therapeutic compression jersey? Why is it needed? When the doctor prescribes you medical compression knitwear, the question often arises - how not to make a mistake with the choice? After all, not all socks, stockings, and pantyhose sold in pharmacies are effective for vein diseases. How to choose the right medical products? It is important to distinguish between therapeutic and preventive compression knitwear. Prophylactic knitwear creates a small (no more than 18 mm Hg at the level of the ankles) pressure and serves to prevent the phenomena of venous insufficiency in people who, due to their activity, are forced to be in an upright or sitting position for a long time. It is marked in "days", which characterizes the density of the tissue and has nothing to do with compression. The size of the product is selected according to height (shoe size) and weight.
Medical knitwear provides a higher level of physiologically distributed pressure (from 18 to 49 and more mm Hg at the level of the bones). At the same time, the pressure due to the compression class is distributed as follows: 100% at the level of the ankles, 70% at the level of the knee, 40% at the level of the thigh. The size of the product is selected according to individual anatomical measurements (for this, it is necessary to measure the circumference of the leg at several levels). With the help of medical knitwear, an increase in the speed of venous blood flow is achieved, venous stasis, edema is eliminated, and blood clots are prevented.
